Non-Surgical Aesthetics Blog
As we get older our appearance will change and for some it is a daunting sign that you’re beginning to show your age, especially if it’s earlier than you were expecting. There’s no avoiding them in later life, but your lifestyle now may mean that you get them sooner rather than later.
At Luxe Private Clinic we have none invasive treatments to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines from chemical peels, RF skin tightening, injections and fillers to anti ageing facials. Below are some examples of what may affect your chances of developing ageing skin earlier.
Smoking can really age a person. Nicotine in cigarettes impairs the blood flow to your skin by narrowing the blood vessels. This means that oxygen and other nutrients aren’t reaching your skin. The sooner you can quit the habit the less damage you’ll do to your skin.
Eating certain foods can increase our production of enzymes which will target collagen and elastin with the aim of breaking them down to reduce inflammation. For this reason refined sugars and carbohydrates should be avoided.
Pollutants can attach to your skin. We should regularly wash our hands, but there is a tendency for many to not wash their face at the end of the night and sleeping in makeup and everything else we’ve walked through that day. After cleaning, you should of course moisturise to restore moisture to the face.
In Britain we always want to make the most out of any sunlight we see but as we all know the sun’s rays can permanently damage our skin and the same can be said for tanning booths. It would be wise if we wore sun protection all day everyday as those rays don’t go away just because it feels cold.
If you wake up after drinking and feel parched imagine how your skin must feel. Alcohol dehydrates the skin which may be an alternative reason for waking up looking dull and tired. Over time this dehydration can lead to permanent lines.
If you are concerned about the signs of ageing, we can advise what treatments will work best for you and have the best results for your skin type.
